- DuPont Belle Plant – This plant in Belle, West Virginia, operated by the DuPont Corporation, produced a variety of chemical products that used asbestos as an insulating material. The plant was in operation from 1949 to 2017.
- Union Carbide – The Union Carbide Corporation had several facilities in West Virginia, including a plant in South Charleston that produced chemicals used in the plastics, adhesives, and rubber industries. Asbestos was used in many of these products as an insulating material.
- Appalachian Electric Power – This electric utility company, which operates several coal-fired power plants in West Virginia, used asbestos in its power generation equipment and facilities.
- Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel – This steel manufacturing company, which had several facilities in West Virginia, used asbestos in its steel production processes and in insulation for its equipment and facilities.
